Warsaw Swim Teams Victorious
NORTH MANCHESTER – The Warsaw girls and boys swim teams opened their dual meet seasons in a big way Tuesday night.
Both of coach Nate Long’s teams won all 11 events in collecting lopsided wins at Manchester.
The Warsaw girls team posted a 131-44 win, while the boys squad notched a 142-37 victory.
The trio of Cynthia Juarez, Erin Sandberg and Brenna Morgan each won two individual events to pace the Warsaw ladies. Juarez won the 200 freestyle (2:10.17) and 500 freestyle (5:47.15) races. Sandberg claimed firsts in the 200 IM (2:27.85) and 100 butterfly (1:08.21) events. Morgan was victorious in the 50 freestyle (25.80) and 100 freestyle (56.50) races.
Warsaw, which opened its season Saturday with a second place finish in the Goshen Relays, also got individual wins from Jessica Haines in the 100 backstroke (1:12.98) and Ashley VanWormer in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.76).
The Lady Tigers also won the 200 medley relay race with the team of Haines, VanWormer, Morgan and Sandberg in 2:02.05, the 200 freestyle relay with the team of Morgan, Sandberg, Juarez and VanWormer in 1:50.97 and the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Haines, Juarez, Emily Thompson and Allison Thompson in 4:23.81.
Zach Taylor topped the field in a pair of events to lead the Warsaw boys team to its victory. Taylor won the 200 IM in a time of 2:09.71 and was first in the 100 butterfly in 57.95.
The Tigers also got individual wins from Ethan Cook in the 200 freestyle (1:58.74), Matt Wildman in the 50 freestyle (24.44), JD French in the 100 freestyle (54.68), Hudson Snyder in the 500 freestyle (5:19.74), Jayden Parrett in the 100 backstroke (54.34) and Spencer Davidson in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.60).
Warsaw also won the 200 medley relay race with the team of Parrett, Taylor, Davidson and Wildman in a time of 1:42.50, the 200 freestyle relay with the team of French, Cook, Wildman and Mac Pelo in 1:38.66 and the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Parrett, Cook, French and Davidson in 3:34.38.
Warsaw hosts Wawasee Saturday in its Northern Lakes Conference opener. Action is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. at WCHS.
