UPDATE: Teen Death ‘Suspicious,’ One Arrested
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a 17-year-old female who died at a Granger residence on Nov. 2. The victim, who has been identified as Tiana E. Alter of Elkhart, was found deceased at 29482 CR 1, Granger, after officers responded to a 911 call Saturday night.
Sheriff’s detectives say they are making progress in this case and are planning to forward the investigation to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s office soon. One person of interest was arrested at the scene on Friday, but that person has not been identified.
At approximately 11:18 p.m. Saturday night, officers found Alter in a bedroom of the home deceased. Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department detectives, with the assistance of the Elkhart County Coroner’s office and the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s office, began an investigation into the girl’s death, which they reported appeared suspicious.
While on-scene, officers arrested “a person of interest” on unrelated charges. The investigation is ongoing and the name of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family.
