Local Churches To Celebrate Billy Graham’s Birthday
By KEN LOCKE, Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association
On July 13, 1949, a group of men gathered in the Rainbow Room of Westminster Hotel in Winona Lake to pray all night for a moving of God. They gathered around a young William Franklin Graham Jr. who was heading to Los Angeles after a fifth annual Youth for Christ rally. They earnestly prayed for God’s blessing on this young preacher. The rest is history.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, “Billy” will celebrate his 95th Birthday with “My Hope America.” As quoted from his web page, “Evangelist Billy Graham has preached about the cross to millions of people around the world – and now he brings the timeless message of hope and redemption in Jesus Christ to America once more. With all my heart I want to leave you with the truth that He loves you and wants to forgive you of your sins.”
The special program “The Cross” will be shown at three local churches offering celebration events. New Life Christian Church & World Outreach at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, and Warsaw Wesleyan Church and The Salvation Army at their locations at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.
Billy’s eyes have dimmed and his body is tired. The voice that compelled thousands to come forward and accept Christ has softened. The aging prophet stands before America once more to point us to God who loves us more than we can imagine.
