He was a Research Lab Technologist for Zimmer Inc. of Warsaw, working there from 1975 until his retirement in 2006. Douglas was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., where he was a 1970 graduate of Pierceton High School. He then attended and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1974 from Grace College of Winona Lake, Ind.
He served on the Supervisory Committee of the Indiana Lakes Federal Credit Union, was formerly the Librarian of the Genealogy Division of the Kosciusko County Historical Society, was Past President of Kosciusko County Historical Society, past member of the Warsaw Community Choir, past member of the First Baptist Church of Pierceton, and presently was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church of Warsaw.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1951, in Warsaw to Billy Austin Mayer and Donna Jeanette (Osborn) Mayer. On June 3, 1972, in Pierceton, he was married to Kristy Sue (Berlin) Mayer, who survives.
He also survived by his son: Daniel Mayer, Milford, Ind.; and his brother: Larry (Jeanne) Mayer, Plymouth, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son: David Mayer.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw, Ind. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Jack Worth. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
