NW Church Hosting Trunk Or Treat
A new, free Halloween event is coming to North Webster from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the North Webster Church of God.
It is called Trunk or Treat and close to 50 vehicles will be decorated and parked in the church parking lot on the west side of the church, 302 N. Main St. (SR 13). “Not only will the evening provide safe trick or treating with crazy, ridiculous amounts of candy, but there will be door prizes, giveaways, activities, refreshments and inflatable bounce houses. The theme of the evening is ‘Despicable Me,’ from the movie. It will happen rain or shine as we have a back up plan if it rains,” explained Angie Metcalf, assistant to pastor of children’s ministries Butch Hunter. A “Despicable Me 2” movie will be given away as well.
Each car’s trunk or pick-up truck bed will have a theme and those who attend can vote for their favorite trunk decorations. Metcalf continued, “To attend, all anyone has to do is show up and register in. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Teens are welcome and there will be some special prizes just for them.”
Hunter had experienced Trunk or Treat at a previous church and is most excited to share it with the community. Children progress from car trunk to car trunk receiving treats and engaging in fun activities. Syracuse Church of God has held a similar event for several years.
In keeping with the “Despicable Me” theme, replicas of the movies’ minions line SR 13 with a series of signs promoting the event. The minions are made out of trash cans.
All children accompanied by an adult and teens are invited to participate in the new Halloween tradition. Those with questions can call 574-834-4281.
