Wawasee Sports Wrap – Oct. 19
Wawasee’s junior varsity football team ended its season with a thrilling victory Saturday morning in Syracuse, a 14-7 winner over Goshen.
Stephon Miller ripped off a 65-yard rushing touchdown and Cameron Adams added a score for the Warriors, which finish the season 3-6 overall. Jeff Bartman added a 60-yard kick-off return and Nick LeCount had an interception to highlight’s Wawasee capper.
“This was a good way to end the JV season,” said Wawasee JV coach Tyson Kaase. “Two solid wins (in a row) and now our boys will help prepare varsity for Leo in the first round of sectionals.”
Lady Warriors End With Win
Wawasee was not able to win the Northern Lakes Conference JV Volleyball Tournament, but it ended with a win Saturday in action at Elkhart Memorial.
The Lady Warriors lost to Memorial 25-8, 25-23 and Warsaw 25-9, 25-11 before rallying for a 25-15, 25-21 decision against Plymouth.
Stats leaders at the NLC for Wawasee were Seaquinn Bright with nine kills and two blocks, Tia Long with 13 assists, Ashley Beer with 16 digs and Skylar Janda with four blocks.
Wawasee ends its season at 13-14 overall.
“Always tough competition in the NLC. I was happy the girls were able to get the win versus Plymouth, a good win to end the season,” stated Wawasee JV coach Kari Walmer.
