Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 10:32 p.m. East 700 North and North 300 East, Leesburg. Driver: Johnathan T. Mallery, 24, East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer, then a guardrail. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1:11 p.m. South 600 West and West 500 South, Mentone. Driver: Lon C. Wadkins, 63, East Main Street, Silver Lake. Wadkins said he was northbound on 600 West when a second vehicle, possibly a black pickup truck, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the back rear passenger side of his vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle left the scene. Damages: up to $10,000
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 8:30 a.m. South 800 West and West SR 25, Warsaw. Driver: Daniel L. Ryman, 68, North 750 West, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Syracuse Police Department
Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 6:25 p.m. 804 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Driver: Brooke L. Truman, 18, Candy Cane Lane, Cromwell. Driver backed into a parked vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 3:16 p.m. North Harrison and East Center streets. Driver: Buddy R. Chandler, 58, East U.S. 30, Pierceton. Chandler was turning into the alley from Harrison Street and collided with a NIPSCO utility pole. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 3:14 p.m. East Center and South Indiana streets. Drivers: Patricia M. Blankenship, 51, West Section Street, Claypool; and Albert D. Alston, 23, EMS C30 Lane, Warsaw. According to a witness, Blankenship, who was westbound on Center Street, may have accelerated to try to beat the traffic signal and drove into the path of Alston’s vehicle, which was northbound on Indiana Street. The accident also resulted in a parked vehicle being struck. Blankenship complained of shoulder pain and was transported to the hospital by a family member. She refused EMS at the scene. Damages: up to $25,000
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1:01 p.m. North Detroit and East Fort Wayne streets. Drivers: Daniel J. Downey, 58, Sandy Woods Drive, Grand Haven, Mich.; and Benjamin Thornburgh, 28, East Channel Road, Warsaw. Downey was northbound on North Detroit Street looking for a business and failed to see the traffic signal change. He collided with Thornburgh’s eastbound vehicle. Downey complained of back pain. Thornburgh complained of leg pain. Damages: up to $10,000
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 11:52 a.m. Lake City Highway and Commerce Drive. Drivers: John M. Lacheta, 43, W. Briaridge Rd., Warsaw; and Devon E. Woodard, 28, Country Side Drive, Columbia City. Lacheta was following a semi on Lake City Highway and attempted to change lanes to drive around it when he pulled into the path of Woodard’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
