Vikings Roll To Another TRC Win
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley football team earned a shot at another conference championship Friday night.
The Vikings blasted North Miami 45-13 for their fourth straight Three Rivers Conference win.
Valley, now 5-3 overall and 5-1 in the TRC, will play for at least a share of the TRC title next Friday night at Whitko in the regular-season finale.
The Vikings, who have shared the last two TRC championships with Rochester at 6-1 in league play, are tied atop the conference standings with Rochester and Whitko. Rochester, which plays North Miami next week, won at Whitko Friday night to make it a logjam at the top.
Valley, coming off a dominating win at Rochester last Friday, was all business Friday night.
The hosts led 14-0 after the opening quarter and 26-0 at halftime versus the Warriors, who drop to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the TRC.
Nolan Sponseller had another big night on both sides of the football for the Vikings. Sponseller had a 35-yard touchdown run and returned an interception 65 yards for another score.
The Valley offense continued to click on all cylinders with 445 yards to total offense, including 260 on the ground.
Chris Torpy led the rushing attack for the winners with 66 yards and one touchdown. Garrett Bell also rushed for a score for the Vikings.
Tanner Andrews scored on a two-yard run and a 41-yard pass play from Ben Shriver for Valley. Senior quarterback Shriver was 10-20 passing for 182 yards and two touchdowns. Shriver also connected with Brandon Webster on a touchdown toss.
