Syracuse Fall Festival This Saturday
Indian Summer has descended upon the lakes area. The mornings are cool while the afternoons remind us of lazy summer days. To celebrate the arrival of fall, the fifth annual Fall Harvest Festival will be held in Syracuse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Veterans Memorial Park at Crosson Mill. This will also be the final Saturday of the season for the Artisans and Farmer’s Market.
Approximately 35 market vendors are expected to participate offering a wide range of fall produce, baked goods and gift items such as jewelry, knit items and more.
Throughout the day there will be cider press demonstrations, hay rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin decorating and pumpkin bowling (with squash as the pins) available for families to enjoy. New this year will be pig races, sponsored by the Wawasee Kiwanis.
There will also be live entertainment with the Heartland Country Cloggers performing from 11 a.m. to noon and market favorite Ivory West will perform from noon to 1 p.m.
And a festival wouldn’t be the same without food being available. This year Grandma’s House of Cupcakes will be providing ham and beans as well as cupcakes. The gourmet hot dog cart will be in Syracuse and the Syracuse Lions will be providing caramel apples, hot cider and popcorn balls.
