Check out the New Arrivals
New titles by some of your favorite authors are arriving every day to the Milford Public Library.
Check out the latest novels by Jeffery Deaver, Carolyn Hart, James Patterson and Iris Johansen. New Christian Fiction available this fall includes books by Robin Lee Hatcher, Beverly Lewis and Lauraine Snelling.
Have you seen the television show Duck Dynasty? You can check out seasons one, two and three and get caught up for season four. For those who love BBC series, we have the first two seasons of Call the Midwife.
Listen to Justin Timberlake’s part two of the 20/20 Experience or Now That’s What I Call Music 47 which includes the hit songs, Come and Get it, by Selena Gomez and Radioactive, by Imagine Dragons. In the teen department you will find new titles by Melissa De La Cruz, Richard Paul Evans and Barry Lyga.
The children’s department has received many new and exciting titles including Attack of the Vampire Weinies, by David Lubar and When Lions Roar, by Robie Harris. Have you heard the new music CD, Start Smart Songs for 1’s, 2’s and 3’s? Prepare for Halloween by checking out the DVDs, Scooby Doo: 13 Spooky Tales or a DVD from the Halloween Town series. The library has added many new eBook titles to our collection this month. Check out OverDrive and see what’s available. You don’t have to go any further than your library to find all the current books, movies and music available this fall!
After School is Cool Tuesdays
Children ages kindergarten through fifth grade will especially like our “After-school is cool” Tuesdays. No sign-up is necessary. On Oct. 22, come and create a scarecrow with Miss Julie. Making scarecrows is hungry work, so everyone will also enjoy a delicious after-school snack. Then Miss Maureen will have a Halloween craft to make on the 29th. Come join us for lots of fun!
Lapsit
Fall Lapsit with Miss Heidi has begun. Lapsit is a 4-week session for children 0-3 years old with their caregiver. It is a 20 minute program filled will finger plays, songs, and books. The next one will be on Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. This fall’s theme is “Monkeys!” There is still time to sign up at the children’s desk.
Fall Preschool Story Time
Fall Preschool story time has started. The program times are Wednesdays, 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.; or Thursdays at 7 p.m. Story time is for children 3-6 years old. We enjoy finger plays, books, crafts and a snack. This week Miss Heidi will share stories about Good Night, Sleep Tight! Please wear your pajamas and bring your teddy bear to listen to A Book of Sleep, by ll Sung Na and other great bedtime stories. Join us on Oct. 23 when Miss Julie presents, “Weird Science.”
Lights Out at the Library
Our annual Lights Out at the Library is planned for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. This year’s theme is The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster.Little Miss Muffet decides she is tired of being scared by the spider every time she sits down to eat her curds and whey. So she goes off looking for another Nursery Rhyme to be in and creates all kinds of problems for Mother Goose!
The library is in need of regular size candy bars to give out to the children at the end of the program. If this is something you could help with please bring them to the adult desk at the library. We are also looking for anyone who would like to help with Lights Out. We are in need of behind the scenes people and actors. Let Julie know if you would like to help by calling 574-658-4312. Family Movie Day
Got plans for Fall Break? Come to the Milford Public Library for Family Movie Day on 2 p.m. Oct. 25. We will be showing a newly released movie from the Disney Vault starring Ariel and Sebastian. The movie is rated G and is 83 minutes long. Snacks and drinks will be provided, so come spend some of your fall break with us!
