Several Tigers, Warriors Among XC All-NLC
GOSHEN – The Northern Lakes Conference announced late Saturday afternoon its honorees among the cross country All-NLC teams for boys and girls runners this fall.
The boys list featured the top five Warsaw Tiger runners from the NLC, a group that helped Warsaw to a championship season in the conference. Warsaw won the NLC championship race with 32 team points, besting runner-up Northridge and placed all five of its scoring runners in the top 11 places in the conference. Leading the list is Ellis Coon, who won the boys race with a time of 16:12. Also making the All-NLC list for Warsaw are Tyler Houvener, Owen Glogovsky, Nick Bergen and Daniel Messenger.
Wawasee added a pair of names to the All-NLC list with Adam Doll and Zach Cockrill.
Rounding out the All-NLC list is Gerardo Abad of Goshen and a trio from Northridge in James Bradberry, Blake O’Dell and Conner Sandt.
Honorable Mention All-NLC boys were Goshen’s Shawn Graves, Lane Graves and Ricardo Castillo, Neel Patel of Northridge and Caleb Darr of NorthWood.
Warsaw head coach Jim Mills was named the NLC Boys Coach of the Year.
For the girls, Warsaw had a trio of girls make the All-NLC list in Allison Miller, Brooke Rhodes and Hannah Dawson. Warsaw tied Northridge in the NLC championship race with 45 points, but a sixth runner tiebreaker went to Northridge, giving the undefeated Lady Raiders the conference crown. Northridge placed three runners on the All-NLC list in Katelyn Kilmer, Olivia Golden and Morgan Blyly.
Elkhart Memorial’s Sierra Moore overwhelmed the field to win the championship race with a time of 19:09, securing an All-NLC nod. Rounding out the All-NLC list were Vanessa Steiner of Concord, Abby Patrick of Plymouth and the Wawasee duo of Bre Robinson and Bridgette Yoder.
Taking Honorable Mention All-NLC honors were Tricia Place of Goshen, Libby Read of Plymouth and a trio from Northridge in McKenzie Love, Mariah King and Molly Campbell.
Northridge coach Ryan McClane was tabbed as NLC Girls Coach of the Year.
