North Webster Public Library Announcements
With a ton of homework each week, teens usually don’t think of reading as recreation, but when you select books you like with interesting and entertaining stories reading can be fun! From Oct. 13 – 19 National Teen Read Week will be taking place and will be encouraging teens to read, “for the fun of it!”
For teens who think that recreational reading is “so old school”, the North Webster Community Public Library is daring them to a Book Trailer Challenge during Teen Read Week. We’re challenging teens to read a book they really like and make a book trailer of it. Then submit their book trailer to Teen Services Manager Katie Shelby via e-mail at [email protected] no later than Oct. 18. Winning entries will be displayed on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us. The winners will receive free movie passes or a book of their choice. So get reading, start filming and let’s see what you’ve created for the fun of it!
Pumpkin creations are on board for Teen Time’s Pumpkin Palooza at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. Invite your friends and come to the library to decorate pumpkins, watch book trailers and fill up on snacks. Pumpkins and decorating supplies will be provided.
If you’re an adult who loves reading but struggles with the small print, check out our sizeable collection of large print books. The larger print size makes reading easier and enjoyable. Large print books are available in many genres and by a variety of authors. We’ve recently added many new popular titles to our collection. If we don’t have a particular title you’re looking for, we may be able to get it for you from another library. Just ask us at the front desk.
Audio books are another good choice for people who have difficulty reading. They are also ideal for listening to during road trips, daily commutes, while doing chores, or just relaxing. We have a large selection of fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from.
Tired of dropping money into DVD vending machines? You can borrow movies free at the library and can keep them for an entire week. We carry new releases as well as popular favorites and timeless classics for adults, teens and children. Whatever your movie tastes, you’re sure to find something to please everyone in the family from our collection of over 3,000 DVD’s including a large number of Blu-ray discs.
From traditional books to online resources, the library is your “go-to” source for information, entertainment and enjoyment.
