YMCA Holds ‘Give-a-Thon’
On Friday, Oct. 18, the Kosciusko Community YMCA will be holding a Give-a-Thon event to raise funds for a new YMCA.
From noon to 9 p.m. the community is encouraged to try several hours and types of exercise at the current facility. Each hour there will be an option in group exercise, cycling and aquatics or participants can sign up to walk or run on the track. Group exercise classes will be held in the gym and cycling classes will be outside on the sidewalk, weather permitting.
There will be door prizes every hour and if 100 people sign up, everyone will be entered to win a 6 month membership. Members and nonmembers are welcome. Childcare will be available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Family friendly classes will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Anyone who completes one hour in each of the events – group exercise, cycling, aquatics and walking – will be invited to hard hat tours and VIP sneak peaks of the new Y as it’s being built. The person who completes the most hours of exercise, with the most variety will get a free month of membership.
Possible classes/events include: Silver Sneakers, Warm Water Water Aerobics, Cycling, Body Sculpt, Lap Pool Water Aerobics, Water Walking, Yoga, Boot Camp, Family Fun, Family Zumba, Deep Water Aerobics, Hydro Extreme, Lap Swim, walking or running on the track and Step Aerobics all with a variety of instructors.
Register for the event until Oct. 16 at the Y. Registration will be available the day of the event, but will cost a little more. For a schedule of Give-a-Thon events, visit the YMCA’s website.
