Northridge Powers Past Wawasee
Northridge passed a test Tuesday in beating visiting Wawasee, 4-0, in boys soccer ahead of a massive matchup Thursday night vs. Warsaw.
The Raiders (10-3-3 overall) and Tigers, who are ranked No. 6 in Class 2-A, are both 4-1-1 in the conference. Wawasee, with the loss Tuesday, fall to 5-8-3 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play. Goal scorers for Northridge were not reported.
The Raiders also won the JV match, 5-2, despite a goal and assist from Austin Shrack. Hunter Magiera also added a goal for Wawasee.
The Warriors will have an important match itself Thursday as it hosts Plymouth, also the first-round matchup for the Warriors in the Warsaw Sectional.
Lady Warriors Still Lacking Offense
Elkhart Memorial kept Wawasee out of the win column yet again, as the Chargers trumped the Lady Warriors 5-0 Tuesday night in varsity girls soccer in Elkhart.
Kirstin Huber, Alexx Freshour and Maddy Keeslar each had a goal and an assist while Hope Cannan and Carly Lochmandy each added goals for Memorial (5-8-1 overall, 2-5 NLC). Wawasee, which drops to 0-15 overall and 0-6 in the NLC, have not scored a goal since its second game of the season back on Aug. 21, a string of 13 straight shutouts.
The Memorial JV also beat Wawasee, 3-1, Tuesday night.
Wawasee’s final regular season game will be Thursday night at NorthWood.
