Steven D. Pickett
Steven D. Pickett, 54, of Bronson, formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
Steve was born on March 14, 1959, in Columbia City, Ind., to Harry and Eva “Gerry” (Engle) Pickett. He graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1977. He married Teeka L. Ludwick on May 11, 1996 in Sturgis, Mich., and they resided in Warsaw until they moved to Bronson in 2008. He had worked as a machinist at the Gatke Corporation in Warsaw for 19 years and most recently had worked for Putnam Manufacturing in Coldwater.
Steve was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bronson for several years and served as a Boy Scout leader in Bronson and in Warsaw. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post #49, in Warsaw, as his father was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Steve will be remembered for being a loving husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, family gatherings, bonfires and camping in the backyard or at the race track. He had a great love for nature and was an avid bird watcher.
Mr. Pickett is survived by his wife: Teeka Pickett; his sons: Steven Michaul Pickett, Nicolas Pickett and Allen Pickett, all of Bronson; his mother: Gerry Pickett, Warsaw; his siblings: Joseph Daniel (Connie) Pickett and Shelly (Tim) Goshert, all of Warsaw; Timothy Pickett, Pierceton, Ind.; Cindy Justice, Warsaw; his in-laws: Dennis (Reba) Ludwick, Bronson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, an aunt, numerous uncles and his mother-in-law: Becky (Broker) Ludwick.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Siler officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help with final expenses.
