Mary E. Cecil
Mary E. Cecil, 93, formerly of Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was a pastor’s wife and worked as a Personnel Coordinator and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She supported mission work around the world, and she had a passion to play Scrabble. Mary was formerly a resident of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana and a past member of Pleasant View Bible Church of Warsaw.
The family would like to thank Wood Haven Health Care and Heartland Hospice both of Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1919, in Des Lacs, N.D., to John Soltis and Sarah (Varnes) Soltis. She was married in San Antonio, Texas, on Feb. 5, 1943, to Walter R. Cecil for 65 years who passed away on Sept. 18, 2008.
She is survived by her two daughters: Marcia Hochhalter, Abbotsford, Wisc.; Cindy (Sam) Baker, Bainbridge, Ind.; two sons: Dave (Rachel) Cecil, Findlay, Ohio; Dan Cecil, Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and her brother.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home and will be officiated by Dave Cecil. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
