North Webster’s Harvest Fall Festival Saturday
North Webster’s Heart of the Harvest Fall Festival is expanding for more family fun for the 2013 event. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Lions Club Mermaid Grounds at the corner of Washington and Blaine streets, two blocks west of the downtown stoplight.
In a first for the area, North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce, with the help of sponsors, is bringing the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show with three performances at noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. This action-packed lumberjack show features log rolling, log rolling dogs, chopping, sawing, axe throwing, dragster chain saw and tree climbing, all with world champion lumberjacks. The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show is a historical, educational, humorous show, filled with audience participation.
The three man show will showcase axe throwing, underhand chopping, two man crosscut sawing, dragster chain saws, and springboard chopping. Also on the agenda are chain saw VS crosscut sawing, precision chain saw racing, chain saw carving and log rolling.
Known for its audience interaction and humor, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show has performed in 49 of the 50 states, several foreign countries and been featured on numerous television shows during its 33 years. Its lumberjacks are real champions showing off their great logging skills. All of the lumberjacks have many titles that make them the best of all.
Admittance to the grounds is free as is admittance to the lumberjack shows. Other Heart of the Harvest Fall Festival activities will take place before, during, after and between lumberjack shows.
Besides the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show’s three, free performances, the North Webster Heart of the Harvest Fall Festival will provide family fun for everyone between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday.
North Webster Ace Hardware is providing bounce houses for the kids to jump in and have a good time while selected vendors will be selling crafts and goods. Several of the sponsors will also have booths to provide the public with pertinent information.
The always popular cake walk will be held twice during the afternoon, once after the noon lumberjack show and once after the 1:30 p.m. show. Many groups, businesses and individuals are donating cakes for the event. Music will be provided by the Singing Dixie Captain Bob Barnes. The game is similar to musical chairs except a chair number is pulled for the winner.
Homemade soup, corn bread and drinks will be available to purchase courtesy of Camp Crosley YMCA, North Webster American Legion, Consegna and the Cake Lady. Hot dogs will also be for sale. North Webster Lions will have a tenderloin dinner available, too. North Webster Boy Scouts will be selling popcorn.
The event will continue rain or shine. Gold sponsors are Rinker Family Foundation, Mediacom and The Car Company of Warsaw. Silver sponsors are The Papers Inc., Sterling Construction, Carey Construction, Lakeland Cottages, North Webster Ace Hardware, Beaver Dam Tree Service, DH Tree Service, Steve’s Auto Care, Nightshift, Wildman Business Group and Irving Materials Inc.
