Mary Jean Kislter
Mary Jean Kislter, 69, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at IU Goshen Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 10, 1943, in Goshen, Ind., to Charles and Mary (Kline) Smoker. She married Nelson Kislter on May 1, 1999. He survives.
Mary enjoyed socializing with family and friends, whether it was playing cards, dominoes or sharing a meal. She was a great cook, enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She loved to travel with her husband Nelson, especially to Fort Myers, Fla., where she enjoyed being on the beach. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Mary is survived by her husband; four children: Danae Whetten, Fort Myers, Fla.; Denise McDaniel, Syracuse; Chad Berkeypile, Milford, Ind.; Brent (Erin) Berkeypile, Milford; seven grandchildren: Joshua, Nathan, Jaxon, Courtney, Kyra, Grady and Elise; four siblings: Bob (Helen) Smoker, Leesburg, Ind.; Linda (Perry) Hathaway, Claypool, Ind.; Roger (Jane) Smoker, Warsaw, Ind.; and Deb (Salah) Ali, Washington D.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, 20430 CR 46, New Paris. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at the church. Pastor Dwayne Runkle will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post 223 Auxiliary.
