Tigers Impress At New Prairie
NEW CARLISLE – The Warsaw boys’ cross country team showed just how talented it is Saturday.
The Tigers, competing without star Ellis Coon, still posted an impressive sixth place team finish in the prestigious New Prairie Invitational.
Sophomore Owen Glogovsky led the way for coach Jim Mills’ No. 11 ranked team in the large school division.
Glogovsky was 19th overall in a time of 16:43 as the top runner for the Tigers. Warsaw posted a team score of 184 in the 28-team division. No. 9 Valparaiso won the large school division with a team score of 85.
Coon, who has had a stellar senior season coming off a foot injury that made him miss most of the spring track season, was out due to sickness. Coon helped lead the Tigers to a program best fourth place finish at the State Finals in 2012.
Tyler Houvener was 24th overall in a time of 16:55 for Warsaw. Daniel Messenger was 32nd in 17:03, followed by teammates Nick Bergen in 40th (17:13), Jonathan Beres in 70th (17:35), Ryan Goon in 108th (18:10) and Aaron Haller in 140th (18:55) in the varsity race for the Tigers.
Top finishers for Warsaw in the Frosh-Sophomore race were TJ Day in eighth place in a time of 18:08 and Avery Torres in 28th place in 18:14.
Jacob DeBoest was 10th overall in a time of 17:54 and Jacob Adley 13th in 18:07 in the Reserve race to pace the Tigers.
