Dayton Tackett
Dayton Tackett, 77, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:35 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.
On Oct. 30, 1935, he was born in West Virginia to Mid and Wille (Berlin) Tackett. He was united in marriage to Virginia Mahnke Michael on July 28, 1968, in Warsaw. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Living most of his life in Kosciusko County, Dayton served in the U.S. Marine Corp, enlisting in 1954. He was also a supervisor for Jomac Inc., Warsaw, for 35 years. He attended First Christian Church, Warsaw and was a member of Warsaw Bowling Association and was an avid golfer.
Dayton is survived by his son: Larry A. Michael, Houston, Texas; two daughters: Karen J. Guffey, Warsaw; and Dorothy J. Murphy, Goshen, Ind.; one sister: Wanda Osborne, Wittenville, Ky.; three brothers: Herschel Tackett, Groom City, Ohio; Lonnie Tackett, Bainbridge, Ohio; and Homer Tackett, Columbus, Ohio; one aunt: Tootsie Tackett, Churubusco, Ind.; six grandchildren: Terri (Don) Holland, Warsaw; Michael Utter, Warsaw; James (Amber) Utter, Warsaw; Kristian Hall, Panama City Beach, Fla.; Nicki (Michael) Tinkey, Goshen; and Tracy (John) Boyenga, Cypress, Texas; six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw; and from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 20, in Lucas Funeral Home, Pikeville, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in Lucas Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tackett Family Cemetery, Little Robinson Creek, Virgie, Ky.
