Many Attend Warsaw Family Safety Day
People of all ages flocked to Center Lake Park today for the sixth annual Play It Safe Family Safety Day hosted by Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and KREMC. The event, which saw over 3,000 people last year, featured hands-on learning activities, presentations, games and make-and-tells free of charge to participants.
The event truly was a “kid’s dream come true” featuring a variety of games, rides, goodies and more. Guests were able to tour both Samaritan and Lutheran Air Ambulances, ride aboard a water rescue boat, zipline through the park and even take a trip into the air on one of two of KREMC’s bucket trucks.
Though several fun events and games were available, teaching families and children about safety and health were the major themes of the day. Activities such as teeth brushing stations, bike safety rides and proper car seat installation demonstrations were all offered in fun and creative ways.
Safety themes of the day included bike safety, farm safety, fire safety, stranger danger, electrical safety, water safety, first aid and much more.
Event sponsors included 1-800-BoardUP, Biomet, Depuy Orthopaedics, Kosciusko REMC, Meijer, Medtronic Inc., McDonald’s, Paragon Medical, Reichert & Knepp, Rock Bottom Warehouse, Smith Tire Inc., Tripp & Associates, William’s Supply, Wildman Business Group and Zale Drugs.
