It’s a kids dream come true! With bucket truck and zip line rides, face painting, police dog demonstrations, and a host of other fun and free activities, Play It Safe Family Safety Day, presented by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, and sponsored by Kosciusko REMC, has become a well-loved local favorite for kids and grown-ups of all ages.
This is the 6th year that the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and KREMC have worked together to present this great day of family fun and education. Last year over 3,000 people attended this day dedicated to family health and safety. With a variety of hands-on learning activities, presentations, games and make-and-takes, all offered free of charge to participants, kids can learn about bike safety, farm safety, fire safety, stranger danger, electrical safety, water safety, first aid, and many other areas of safety at this year’s event.
“We’re really excited about the activities we’ll be offering this year, thanks to a grant from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation and the support from local businesses,” said Shirley Fetrow, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory. “We’re firming up details, and will have more information available soon on the day’s activities and events.”
“Working together with so many community organizations and businesses has made Play it Safe Family Safety Day a great success,” said Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Brubaker. “This is an important day for us to get the word out about health and safety issues, and it’s a fun way to do it. We really appreciate area residents bringing out their kids so we can help them learn important safety lessons. We hope to have an excellent turnout again this year.”
Sponsors for this year’s all free event are 1-800-BoardUP, Biomet, Depuy Orthopaedics, Kosciusko REMC, Meijer, Medtronic Inc., McDonald’s, Paragon Medical, Reichert & Knepp, Rock Bottom Warehouse, Smith Tire Inc., Tripp & Associates, William’s Supply, Wildman Business Group and Zale Drugs.
Play it Safe Family Safety Day happens Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Park and Center Lake Pavilion in Warsaw.
