Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, Sept. 1, 3:36 a.m. 400 North near SR 13, North Webster. Silver Lincoln Zephyr missed a curve and struck a utility pole. Driver fled the scene. Damages: up to $25,000
Saturday, Aug. 31, 9:56 a.m. 225 South near 275 East, Warsaw. Driver: David I. Paul Woodruff, 23, 225 South, Winona Lake. Woodruff missed a stop sign and drove off the roadway. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Aug. 31, 9:56 a.m. Intersection Peru Road and 1300 South, Warsaw. Drivers: Charles E. Riggs, 85, 200 West, Keystone; and Lindsay R. Smith, 32, SR 114, Akron. Riggs collided with Smith. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, Aug. 30, 12:20 a.m. Zimmer Road near Golf Heights Road, Warsaw. Driver: Brandon W. Hepler, 41, SR 14, Silver Lake. Driver struck deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Aug. 30, 4:42 a.m. SR 13 near Railroad Street, Sidney. Driver: Wesley T. Cox. Cox traveled into the path of an oncoming Norfolk Southern train. Driver and passenger died at the scene. (See story) Damages: over $100,000.
Friday, Aug. 30, 6:21 a.m. SR 25 near 400 West, Warsaw. Driver: Frank R. Shell, 19, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Shell lost control of his vehicle while attempting to pass another car, drove off the road and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, Aug. 30, 5:12 p.m. Boeing Road near 200 North, Warsaw. Drivers: Richard A. Shepherd, 68, Main Street, Laketon; and Jocelyn M. Mitchell, 28, Southwood Drive, Warsaw. Shepherd backed into Mitchell. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Aug. 30, 5:32 p.m. 100 East near Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Gary W. Morris, 56, 200 North, Warsaw; and Sean B. Berwanger, 44, Sherwood Lake Drive, Schererville. Collision occurred while Berwanger attempted to pass Morris. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Aug. 30, 6:50 p.m. 200 North near 525 East, Warsaw. Drivers: Kenneth L. Bellman, 67, 200 North, Warsaw; and Deborah L. Eddy, 52, 200 North, Warsaw. Bellman turned out of a driveway into Eddy’s path. A collision ensued. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, Aug. 30, 9:24 p.m. Boeing Road near Bell Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Haley J. Angel, 18, 3rd Trail, North Webster. Angel lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway, and crashed into a ditch. Damages: up to $25,000

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Tuesday, Sept. 3, 10:43 a.m. Detroit Street near Main Street. Drivers: Linda M. Record, 63, 350 East, Fairmount; and Charles R. Kaltenbach, 69, Maple Avenue, Warsaw. Record collided with Kaltenbach. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Aug. 31, 12:58 p.m. Lake City Highway near Old Road 30. Drivers: Jennifer Debauche, 31, Troy Avenue, Posen, Ill.; and David A. Hein, 56, 450 East, Pierceton. Debauche turned in front of Hein causing a collision. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, Sept. 1, 11:07 p.m. Detroit Street near 300 North, Warsaw. Driver: Lindy G. Dilley, 29, Harkless Drive, Syracuse. Dilley lost control of her vehicle and drove off the roadway. Damages: up to $2,500
Sunday, Sept. 1, 11:35 p.m. 200 North near U.S. 30, Warsaw. Drivers: David E. Burkett; Trina L. Burkett. David pursued Trina because of a domestic dispute. Eventually he rear-ended her vehicle several times. Officers were contacted and intervened, pulling David over on U.S. 30 west of SR 15. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Aug. 30, 11:27 a.m. Union Street near Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Philip S. Werner, 60, Kinney Drive, Warsaw. Werner was stopped at a traffic light. The vehicle in front of him backed into his car, then sped away. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Aug. 30, 6:16 p.m. East Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Nicole D. Bolesky, 17, Timberline Circle, Warsaw. Bolesky backed into another vehicle. Other party left the scene. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Aug. 30, 9:11 p.m. Lake City Highway near Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Malachi H. Sweeny, 20, 275 East, Warsaw; and Larry W. Kinsey, 77, North Webster. Sweeny rear-ended Kinsey at a traffic light. Damages: up to $2,500
