Knox Outlasts Triton

images copyKNOX – A singles sweep carried Knox past Triton 3-2 in a Northern State Conference boys tennis match Wednesday.

Knox outlasted the Trojans on all three singles court to win the marathon match.

Davey Johnson topped Dean Howdeshell 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 1 to lead the winners.

Knox also won at No. 2 singles as Jordan Anderson beat Jared Fisher 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.

The No. 3 singles match had Hunter Gilbert stopping Alex Eib 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in a match that took three and a half hours to decide.

The Trojans collected straight set wins on both doubles courts in the league contest.

Lucas Shafer and Darrin Harrell won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 for Triton. The No. 2 team of Jake Oldham and Austin Sellers rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win for the Trojans.

Knox also won the JV match by a 3-2 final.

Triton is now 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the NSC on the season.
