Condition Upgraded For Injured Player
Sam Dailey, the Columbia City football player injured last Friday night versus Warsaw, has been upgraded to fair condition.
The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reported that Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne confirmed the update Tuesday. Dailey had been listed in critical condition after suffering a head injury late in the third quarter of a 33-14 loss at Warsaw.
Dailey, a senior captain for the Eagles, was hurt while trying to make a tackle from his linebacker position. He was taken from the City sideline Friday night on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance and later underwent surgery at Lutheran Hospital to relieve pressure on his brain.
Columbia City officials would not comment on Dailey’s status when contacted by email on Tuesday.
“We are not allowed to comment on this,” said City athletic director Geoff Penrod in an email Tuesday when asked about Dailey.
