Cheryl A. Wilson
Cheryl A. Wilson, 64, of Evans, Ga., and formerly of North Manchester, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at her residence.
She was born at Wabash, Ind., on Dec. 7, 1948, to Robert G. and Patricia Ann (O’Dell) Shambaugh. On Aug. 29, 1969, she married C. Tom Wilson. He died Sept. 7, 2009. She graduated Wabash High School in 1967 and attended Ball State University.
Cheryl was employed for many years in advertising with the News-Journal at North Manchester. Later she was owner/operator of Tri-Oaks Realty in North Manchester. She and her husband raised hogs for many years on their farm on Laketon Road.
She was a member of Wabash County Realtors Association, North Manchester Chamber of Commerce and a past member of Altrusa in Wabash County. She was active in North Manchester Junior Achievement, the Republican Party and many aspects of the North Manchester community.
In 2001 she was an essential collaborator in founding the Manchester Monitor newspaper. An avid reader and gardener, she touched many lives through her giving spirit. Cheryl attended Sweetwater Assembly of God and Congregational Christian Church.
She is survived by one son: Jeremiah T. (Angela) Wilson, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters: Jennifer C. (Joseph) Deal, Evans, Ga.; and Amanda (Martin) Bartlebaugh, Evans, Ga.; one sister: Susan (Terry) Stewart, Wabash; six grandchildren: Adrienne, Estella and Grant Deal and Stone, Law and Crew Wilson.; and one nephew and several nieces.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Laketon Cemetery, Laketon, Ind. Pastor J. P. Freeman and Pastor Chad McAtee will officiate.
