Auction, Dinner To Benefit Payton Brattell Scholarship
A young life so tragically lost will become a life opportunity with the development of the Payton Brettell Scholarship Fund.
Payton’s parents, Nova Ann and David Brettell, are having an auction to raise money to establish a college scholarship put in his name. All of the proceeds are going to be donated in product form to be auctioned off Saturday, Sept. 14.
The auction takes place at the Warsaw American Legion Post 49 in Warsaw and also includes a spaghetti dinner for just $5 per person. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Among the silent auction items available so far are a 2012 laser autographed football from the Chicago Bears, a Chicago Bears set from Sportula, an 8×10 autographed Peyton Manning photo, a NASCAR jacket autographed by Ward Burton and many more items.
“Shortly after Payton’s death I decided to set up a scholarship in his name at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation,” said David. “Once we reach $5,000 it will be awarded yearly to a student from Warsaw or Wawasee high school who is entering collage to be in the pediatric medical field. My objective is to reach the $5,000 then continue to grow it for as long as I can.”
Payton was just 18 months old when he died while in the care of his babysitter. (See story)
