William Foster
William Foster, 90, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away on Aug. 25, 2013, at Parkview Noble Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1922, in Albion, Ind., to John and Edna (Herendeen) Foster. He married Dorothy Furkis on June 13, 1944, in Ligonier.
He served his country in the United States Navy in World War II. He was a Gunner’s Mate, 1st Class on a destroyer escort. William was the Water Works supervisor in Ligonier for 30 years. He retired in 1987. Prior to joining the Navy, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp. at Pokagen State Park, Ind. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #243 in Ligonier.
He is survived by his wife; three sons: Stephen (Francene) Foster, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Alan Scott (Brenda) Foster, Milford, Ind.; Sheldon Foster, Ligonier; a daughter: Sandra Lee (David) Rewald, Dade City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 28, at Yeager Funeral Home. A funeral service in his honor will be at 1 p.m. Thursday Aug. 29, at the funeral home. Celebrant Larry Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
