Voelz, Poe Pace Unbeaten Tigers
LAFAYETTE – The 1-2 punch of Katie Voelz and Emily Poe powered the Warsaw volleyball team to an undefeated showing Saturday in the Lafayette Jeff Tournament.
Junior Voelz powered down 21 kills on the day and senior Poe had 17 as coach Mike Howard’s squad went 4-0.
Warsaw, now 5-0 on the season, defeated host Jeff 25-14, 25-10, McCutcheon 25-10, 25-17, Morristown 25-7, 25-11 and Milan 25-10, 25-15.
Senior Laura Craig also had a strong day with 14 kills. eight aces and 15 digs for the Tigers.
Peyton Adamiec led the defense with 21 digs. Setter Cassie Hoag had 10 digs to go with 55 assists in the four wins.
Delaney Goble paced the unbeaten Tigers with 13 service aces. Voelz had five blocks and Jordyn Lindeman had three blocks and five aces.
Warsaw hosts Mishawaka Marian tonight (Aug. 26) and then begins defense of its Northern Lakes Conference championship Thursday evening by hosting Elkhart Memorial.
