Richard G. Little
Richard G. Little, 86, North Manchester, Ind., and formerly of Bippus, Ind., died at 11:40 a.m. Monday Aug. 26, 2013.
He was born May 14, 1927, in Huntington, Ind., to Willard and Emma (Murray) Little. He graduated from Chester High School in 1945 where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams.
On Sept. 12, 1948, he married Phyllis A. Schuler. Richard was a retired farmer and retired from Huntington County Community Schools after serving 15 years as a custodian and football field grounds keeper. He was active in 4-H: a four year member of rural youth, a township leader for 25 years, coached 6 demonstrations to the Indiana State Fair with three winning first place, a state fair judge for 5 years, District Tractor Leader and a 40 year member of the State 4-H Tractor Program where he coached five national tractor contest winners.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington, and faithfully attended chapel at Timbercrest. Richard was a former member of the Bippus Lions Club and an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau for over 65 years. He loved Purdue and Huntington North basketball. He was a devout Christian throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife: Phyllis A. Little, North Manchester; two sons: John R. (Patsy) Little, Marion, Ind.; and Kent A. (Michelle) Little, Silver Lake, Ind.; three daughters: Susanne (Ernest) Crane, Orleans, Ind.; Elaine A. (Gregory) Lucas, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Cheryl H. (Lynn) Wilcox, Lagro, Ind.; one brother: Robert (Betty) Little, Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 13, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 West, North Manchester, and one hour prior to services at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 E. St., North Manchester. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann.
