Maria I. Henderson
Maria I. Henderson, 75, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away 9:05 p.m. at Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at her residence.
She was born March 9, 1938, in Caracas, Venezuela, to Guillermo and Dorothy (Pence) Aranguren. She was a 1957 graduate of Warsaw High School and a graduate of Kokomo Business College.
She moved to Indiana in 1946 and lived most of her life in Warsaw. She married David L. Henderson, on Sept. 14, 1958, in Warsaw.
She was U.S. Postal Service for 25 years retiring in 2000 as the Post Master of the Claypool Post Office.
Maria was a charter member of the Warsaw Altrusa. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and together they were able to make trips to different areas of Europe as well as Japan, Alaska and Jamaica. She was an avid reader. She loved planting and caring for a variety of beautiful flowers as her health allowed; but most of all Maria loved spending time with her children and grandchildren who in return loved her very much. She will always be loved and greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband: David L. Henderson, Warsaw; two sons: Vincent (Junko) Henderson, Claypool, Ind.; Dr. Christopher (Patti) Henderson, Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter: Rebecca (Scott) Struven, Farmington Hills, Mich.; four granddaughters: Genevieve Henderson and Ella Henderson, Jacksonville, Fla.; Maria Henderson and Erika Henderson, Claypool, Ind.; a brother-in-Law: Gerald Poats, Athens, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Annette Duranso and Cecilia Poats.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home with Pastor E.J. Underwood, Warsaw Community Church, Warsaw. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
