James M. ‘Shermy’ Sherman
James M. “Shermy” Sherman, 92, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, Ind.
Shermy was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Sheridan, Pa. He entered the United States Army Oct. 17, 1942, at New Cumberland, Pa., and served during World War II. CPL James M. Sherman was honorably discharged Nov. 11, 1945, from IGMR (Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, Pa).
On Nov. 25, 1964, in Winchester, Va., he and his wife, Louise, were married. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1997.
Shermy was a truck driver for 52 years retiring in 2000 while driving for Woody Everly.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: John Sherman, Warsaw; and Jimmy and Earla Sherman, Lancaster, Pa.; step daughter and her husband: Beverly and Meredith Moyer, Warsaw; two step sons and their wives: Jerry and Joyce Ostrom, Angola, Ind.; and Daniel and Tammy Minster, Auburn, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Debbie, Nick, Brittany, Hannah, Cindy, Melonie and Angie; a brother: Dick Clay, Allentown, Pa.; and his Snicki.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two grandsons: Cody Sherman and Stevie Sherman; three great grandchildren; a brother; and a sister.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A celebration of life will begin at noon. Pastor Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice chaplain will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, where military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others in Shermy’s memory.
