Chely Lee Reyes
Chely Lee Reyes, 22, of Monticello, Ind., and formerly of Mentone, Ind., passed away at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in I.U. White Memorial Hospital, Monticello.
On May 23, 1991, he was born to Jose L. and Leslie A. (Stephens) Reyes in Warsaw. Chely graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School in 2010 and then attended Vincennes University. He was employed as an electrician for Girtz Industries, Monticello.
Chely attended Faith Covenant Fellowship, Monticello and was a member of Future Farmers of America at Tippecanoe Valley High School. He loved to work on his 1978 Ford Pickup. Chely was a caring and loving, son, brother and friend who would give anybody the shirt off his back. He was a free spirit and considered himself to be a cowboy who was born in the wrong century.
Chely is survived by his parents: Jose L. and Leslie A. Reyes, Mentone; two sisters: Miriah L. (Zachary) Reyes-Davis, Mentone; and Chayla Reyes, Warsaw; two nieces: Kacie and Kyndall Davis, Mentone; a nephew who is on the way; his maternal grandmother: Beth Stephens, Mentone; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chely was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Talmadge Stephens; his paternal grandparents: Jose and Ana Reyes DueƱo; his maternal great-grandmother: Susanna Combs; and his aunt: Luz Nereida Melendez.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home with Reverend Douglas Ohime and Reverend Leslie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ind.
