Toni Morehead
Toni Morehead, 79, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:07 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Peabody Retirement Home, North Manchester.
She was born Dec. 28, 1933, Polk, Ohio, Lee Gordon Miller and Leona P. (Miller) Miller. She was a 1952 graduate of Goshen High School, Goshen, Ind.; a 1956 graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., with an education degree.
She lived most of her life in Warsaw. She married Glenn R. Morehead on Jan. 2, 1955, in Goshen, Ind.
She was a freelance writer for newspapers, magazines and professional journals including the Indianapolis Star and The Paper. She wrote and acted for Ken Anderson Films Production, Warsaw, wrote scripts for Bridgework Theater and Presbyterian Puppet Ministry, and also wrote material for Child Protective Services of Elkhart. She was commissioned by Huntington Hospital to research and publish its history; researched and wrote history for Cardinal Services, Warsaw; authored Trumpet of Clay, a biography of Grace College music director, Jerry Franks. She was an English teacher at the former Milford High School.
She was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church since 1968 and was Warsaw’s 1988 Woman of the Year. She was a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority, served on the board of Home Health Care Services beginning in 1980 and was instrumental in the design of the current building as well as the beginning of the Home Health Care Festival of Trees. She shared her musical talents with the community as a voice instructor, choir director and soloist, she acted with the Enchanted Hills Playhouse in Syracuse, Ind.
She tutored English, served on the original board of Riverwood Ranch, Warsaw; was a member of the ladies 9-hole golf group at Rozella Ford Golf Course.
She is survived by two daughters: Cynthia (Randy) Lehman, Goshen; Ann (Barry) Kline, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Kelsey Kline, Chicago, Ill.; Braden Kline, Chicago; Nathan Kline, Warsaw; Kristin Myrda, Lincoln, Neb.; Nicholas Myrda, stationed with the United States Navy; a great-granddaughter: Leyla Kline, at home; a sister: Sandy Biller, Goshen; a brother: Terry (Yvonne) Miller, Silva, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn R. Morehead; and a daughter: Glenda Myrda.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Ailes, Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
