The staff at Scearce Rudisel Architects regretfully announces the passing of CEO, president and architect Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan. She was the unfortunate victim of an automobile accident on July 18 returning to the office from a work-related meeting. At this small office, her untimely passing weighs on all of us like the loss of a family member.
Mary Ellen’s professional achievements include membership with the AIA, NCARB and Historic Landmarks and associations with the Conservative Assessor Program, Heritage Preservation and Historic Landmarks Foundation. Her personal interest as an architect was restoring and renovating historic landmark buildings. She felt a calling to partner with church leadership to accommodate the ongoing needs of their congregations. Most are not aware of it, but you cannot walk a block in downtown Warsaw without seeing Mary Ellen’s influence on these old buildings. Her generous nature guided her to be responsive to those in need and she tried to deliver more than what was expected of her.
Mary Ellen carried the legacy that Don Scearce entrusted to her. Don, Mary Ellen and their supporting staffs have compiled a diverse portfolio of work for this community. With that in mind, various architects have generously offered their expertise and time to complete the work that Mary Ellen was unable to finish. The office of Scearce Rudisel Architects plans to continue the legacy and continue to guide the future of this and surrounding communities.
The first chapter and second chapters of Scearce Rudisel have been written and reflected upon. We intend to contribute to the telling of the third chapter with a calling from the past and a current perspective.
