Team Effort Earns Tigers Close Win
WINONA LAKE – A total team effort earned the Warsaw girls golf team a big win Thursday.
Fine performances from all five of its golfers were the case as the host Tigers edged past No. 12 Rochester by one stroke in non-conference play at the Stonehenge Golf Club.
Alexis Manwaring, the No. 1 golfer for coach Chris LaLonde’s team, shot a 44 to pace the hosts to their 181-182 win.
Nikki LaLonde came in at 45 for the winners, file both Elizabeth Meadows and Aarshia Jain shot 46. Kristen Watson added a 48 for Warsaw.
The Tigers improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Warsaw JV team also collected a win Thursday due to the fact that Rochester only had three golfers. The host Tigers shot 236 and Rochester 224.
Miranda Domiano shot a 54 and Morgen Fuentes a 57 to lead the Warsaw JV team. Page Desenberg carded a 61, Maddie Graham 64 and Lauren Shaffner 66.
The Warsaw JV squad is now 2-1 on the season.
Warsaw will play in the Western Invitational Saturday at the Chippendale Golf Course in Kokomo. The tee-off time is at 2 p.m.
