HIghlighting North Webster-Tippecanoe Chamber of Commerce’s general meeting Monday was the news that enough sponsorships had been obtained to bring the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show to the Heart of the Harvest Fall Festival, which will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28. The show will feature log rolling, pole climbing and other stunts.
It is hoped that this attraction, along with those of the past fall festivals, will boost attendance at the event to be held at the Mermaid Festival Grounds. Julie DuBois is serving as the festival chairwoman.
Large donations from several sponsors has allowed the show to be added. Other events to be included will be hand-painted soup bowls and a variety of soups, the always popular cake walk and bounce houses for the children with more being considered.
Anyone who would like to help with the Heart of the Harvest Fall Festival is invited to a meeting at noon, Monday, Aug. 19, at the chamber office in the Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St. If unable to attend, volunteers can also contact DuBois at 574-834-2361.
President Sue Ward announced that the Strombeck Brothers, doing business as North Webster Septic Tank Cleaning Service, is the business of the month. New members include D & T Automotive, Clearwater Carpentry and Elwood Staffing of Warsaw.
A recap of Dixie Days was given by Ward and treasurer Stacey Cox. Dixie Days were deemed a success with attendance up and finances in the black. A discussion was held after the meeting by the Dixie Days committee to see what worked and what could be improved.
Other business included that North Webster cookbooks are now for sale by the chamber. Board member Ben Ashpole is conducting a study of businesses in the area. North Webster Community Center Heart of the Community Charity Auction will be held Saturday, Oct. 5. Tickets are now on sale.
The next general meeting of the chamber will be held at noon Monday, Sept. 9, at the North Webster American Legion Post 253, 756 S. SR 13. All members are urged to attend.
