She was born Dec. 8, 1927, in North Manchester, Ind., to Alvin and Orpha (Weller) Bolinger. She graduated from Chester High School, North Manchester, class of 1946. On Jan. 11, 1948, she married F. Earl Montel.
Phyllis was a homemaker, an Avon representative for several years and a custom seamstress. She and her husband were co-owners of Montel Livestock Equipment, North Manchester, for several years. She attended First Brethren Church, North Manchester. Phyllis loved life and was dedicated to caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband: F. Earl Montel, North Manchester; two daughters: Karen Sue (Walter) Burns, North Manchester; Kathy Ann (Charles) Douglass, North Manchester; one brother: Ralph (Gloria) Bolinger, North Manchester; seven grandchildren: Shelly Leifer (David) Cunningham, North Manchester; Greg (Jill) Caudill, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Chad Allen, North Manchester; Amy Jo Allen, Warsaw, Ind.; Shane (Kim) Burns, Wabash, Ind.; Doug (Andrea) Douglass, Huntington, Ind.; and Brian (Sara) Douglass, Huntington, Ind.; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut St., North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut St., North Manchester. Pastor J. P. Freeman and Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. McKee Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
