Heartland Chamber Chorale Season Starts In September
FORT WAYNE – Just one word describes the Heartland Chamber Chorale’s recently announced new season: Sensational! The season starts Sept. 22. Complete concert details and ticket purchase options are available at www.heartlandchorale.org.
On Sept. 22, Northeast Indiana’s only professional chorus will share the stage at the University of Saint Francis Performing Arts Center for a premiere presentation of Karl Jenkins modern oratorio “The Peacemakers.” Joining Heartland and bringing depth to the concert experience are the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, the University of Saint Francis University Singers and guest soloist, contemporary artist Lori Sandstrom.
October offers an educational experience for high school choristers culminating in a 4 p.m. open-to-the-public performance Oct. 27 at Northside High School. The concert and full-day instructional are part of Heartland’s educational outreach programs and include a special evening reception for music educators on Oct. 28.
Nov. 3 includes a special community concert Heartland Sings of Peace and Justice, sponsored by the Indiana Center for Middle East Peace. The 4 p.m. performance in the rotunda of the Allen County Courthouse will feature a premiere performance of “Gather These Mirrors” by Kala Pierson.
Two performances of Handel’s masterwork “Messiah” are on tap in December. The first concert is Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Saint Francis Performing Arts Center; the second performance will be offered in the Dekalb High School Auditorium at Auburn, beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 9.
December always includes Heartland Sings: Holidays. Three performances are planned, and the first Holidays concert is slated for 4 p.m., Dec. 15 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Fort Wayne. A second is Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at Auburn Presbyterian Church.
