Three age groups are currently working through its respective Town & Country baseball tournaments this weekend. All three tourneys began Thursday and will conclude Monday night with championship games at three different sites.
Pierceton is hosting the 12-U state finals, and in first round games, the top seed Plymouth were upset by Alexandria, 7-6, while fellow locals Nappanee opened the tournament with an 11-3 win over Lewis Cass. Rossville beat Kokomo South Side, 5-4, and Frankton got by Rochester, 7-5, to complete the first round. In the losers bracket, Plymouth and Rochester stayed alive with wins over Lewis Cass (10-2) and Kokomo South Side (10-6).
At Flora in the 10-U tournament, Nappanee defeated Flora, Delphi bested Oak Hill, Plymouth beat Alexandria and New Paris got past Ole Miss. Flora then knocked out Oak Hill and Ole Miss sent Alexandria home. Scores in the 10-U tournament were not reported.
The 8-U tournament in Monticello hosts Mentone, which were 12-7 winners over Frankton in its first game of the tournament. Mentone will face Plymouth this afternoon, a 7-6 winner over Flora Friday night. In the other half of the bracket, Kokomo UCT beat Russiaville, 9-8, and Frankfort dropped Rochester, 11-2. Frankton rebounded with a 3-2 win over Flora and Russiaville outslugged Rochester, 20-10, to stay alive.
