Lobsterpalooza To Benefit Opera Center
This year’s Indianapolis Opera annual fundrasier, Lobsterpalooza 2013, will be co-chaired by Hall of Famer and Indiana Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird and his wife Dinah. The event will be held at the Basile Opera Center in Indianapolis on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The fourth annual Lobsterpalooza is casual evening of entertainment, live music, and, of course, food. A traditional Maine lobster boil will be served with award-winning clam chowder, steamed clams, and fresh vegetables. The lobster is driven in live the night before the event.
Co-chair, Bird, who was born in West Baden, Ind., has held the title of president of basketball operations since 2003, aside from a year off in 2012. He was the Pacers coach from 1997 to 2000. He played for the Boston Celtics from 1979 to 1992.
Bird is a 12-time NBA All-Star. He helped the Celtics win three NBA championships, being named MVP in two of them. He is the only player in history to win most valuable player, coach of the year and executive of the year.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Frank and Katrina Basile Opera Center. The event will take place rain or shine. Chicken dishes are available for those with an aversion to seafood.
Tickets are available at indyopera.org. Cost is $150 for a single or $1,200 for a table of eat. Purchase includes valet parking. Proceeds from the event benefit the Frank and Katrina Basile Opera Center.
