MTEMS Hosts Lutheran Air
Multi-Township EMS hosted Lutheran Air this evening for a meet and greet event to introduce the Lutheran Air staff. The meet and greet took place at MTEMS’ west base at North Detroit Street (SR 15) and U.S. 30.
Mark Pepple, clinical director for MTEMS, said the event was for MTEMS personnel to become better acquainted with the Lutheran Air crew. In the past week it was announced that MTEMS has made the decision to work more extensively with Lutheran Air as its “preferred helicopter service.”
Krista Quinones, director of Lutheran Air and MICU Stat Transfer Center, said tonight’s event was an opportunity for MTEMS personnel to see the faces and learn the names of some of the flight crew team members that will be part of critical care response in Kosciusko County. “We’re just really excited about the partnership with Multi-Township EMS and building relationships with the community,” added Quinones.
While nothing is finalized, Quinones said Lutheran Air is “in negotiations” with Wabash to place a second Lutheran Air helicopter at the Wabash Municipal Airport. “We’re looking at opportunities for surrounding communities and for our region’s needs,” she explained.
Lutheran Air employs a total of 17 flight team personnel including pilots, paramedics and registered nurses that work in 12-hour shifts. Lutheran Air has been in operation for 9 years and serves a 150-mile radius of Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
