Woman Arrested After Police Pursuit
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a Fort Wayne woman after a she led officers on a short pursuit Friday night.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies were on routine patrol Friday night at approximately 10:19 p.m. when they observed a white, 1997 Mazda pickup truck traveling westbound on U.S. 30. The vehicle continued to cross the white fog line in an erratic manner.
The vehicle, driven by Rachel Lee Snider, 43, of Fort Wayne, then turned northbound onto CR 700 West, where it continued to deviate from its lane of travel. At that point, officers initiated a traffic stop at CR 250 North.
As officers approached the vehicle, they noted the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as they were asking the driver for her license and registration. Snider suddenly rolled-up her window and accelerated northbound on CR 700 West.
KCSD officers pursued the fleeing vehicle as it reached speeds of 90 mph until it failed to stop at the T-intersection of CRs 700 West and 650 North. Snider’s vehicle struck a wooden fence and several small trees until eventually becoming stuck in a ditch.
Snider was found to have minor injuries and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. She was later released from KCH and subsequently arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Resisting/Fleeing Law Enforcement.
Snider was also found to have an warrant for her arrest issued by Allen County and is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.
