Nine Arrested For Dealing Prescription Drugs
Warsaw Police Narcotics Officers arrested nine individuals within the past two days and are continuing to pursue two more people involved in dealing prescription medications.
According to WPD, in an effort to reduce the influence of illegal drug activity in and around the community, narcotics officers fanned out over the area at 12 p.m. today and served multiple arrest warrants after undercover purchases of prescription medications were made.
The following individuals were arrested today during the undercover investigation and were charged with dealing in a Schedule I, II or III controlled substance, a class B felony:
Toni L. Butts, 46, of Warsaw
Emerson C. Butts Jr., 24, of Warsaw
Lawrence E. Cameron, 48, of Warsaw
Nathan A. Ghrist, 32, of Warsaw
Sierra L. Scaife, 18, of Warsaw
Bonnie J. Smith, 33, of Columbia City
Andrew Spears, 23, of Warsaw
Debra K. Starr, 52, of Warsaw
All of the individuals were being held on $10,000 surety bonds.
In addition, following the serving of a warrant to Spears, officers also discovered additional prescription drugs packaged and ready to be marketed, as well as a quarter pound of marijuana. WPD said Spears will face additional dealing charges as a result of the discovery.
Also arrested yesterday was Kendall J. Kerlin, 27, of Warsaw, on a class A felony charge of dealing in a narcotic drug within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of a Schedule I or II narcotic, a class D felony. She had a $10,000 surety only bond.
Warsaw Police are still seeking two additional individuals on warrants. Charges for additional suspects are currently being sought and more charges are expected to follow today and yesterday’s string of arrests.
