Dixie Days To Honor Dixie Sternwheeler
To celebrate the Dixie’s 80th birthday four years ago, members of the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce came up with an idea that would not only honor a beloved and historical national landmark, but cause people to come to North Webster to fall in love with the area. Thus was born, Dixie Days.
In 2013 Dixie Days will be held Friday and Saturday, July 26-27.
The festival dream has come true with an expansive list of activities and events that continues to grow. Vendor booths line Main Street (SR 13) from the North Webster Community Center to South Street and down West Washington Street. The juried art fair shows off and sells artisans’ wares on the Pilcher Shoes lawn while there are also antique sales, food vendors and musical entertainment.
The Cruise-In Car Show and the Vintage Snowmobile Show and Swap Meet will be at the Mermaid Festival grounds. Many other attractions will be visible including merchant sales throughout North Webster.
One highlight of Dixie Days is the extra Saturday cruises around Webster Lake. During Dixie Days, special cruises will be held 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., as well as the regularly scheduled 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. twilight cruise on Saturday, July 27.
On Friday, July 26, cruises will be held at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased one half hour before cruise time at the Dixie ticket window on the north end of the Lakeview Pizza King building in the North Webster Town Park.
