Warrior Open Hits The Mark
SYRACUSE – Not even an afternoon session filled with steady downpours could dampen the mood of the Wawasee Warrior Open golf fundraiser held Monday at South Shore Golf Club.
The 19th annual Open had 42 total teams participate and added a feature to the scramble, where golfers on hole 12 were allowed to take a radio controlled car up the fairway for a $1 per second donation. The hole, sponsored by the Bowen Center, raised funds for the athletic department to pay for special psychiatric needs for its athletes.
The Warrior Open is the largest fund raising event for the Wawasee High School athletic department. Funds generated from the annual event go to support the overall budget needs of the athletic department.
Current WHS athletes greeted golfers as they arrived while coaches and athletic staff worked hole-in-one contests and registration.
