Sally S. Joy
Sally S. Joy, 63, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away at 9:19 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind.
On April 21, 1950, she was born in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Talt and Virginia (Baldridge) Prater. She married Dennis Joy on Jan. 18, 1997, in Claypool, Ind., who survives.
Living most of her life in the Kosciusko County area, Sally worked for K-Mart, Warsaw for many years and also worked at Biomet for Bertsch Vending Inc., Warsaw, retiring in 2012. She was also a member of God’s Highway To Heaven Church, Warsaw where she was saved.
Sally was one who could put a smile on everybody’s face, she didn’t know a stranger. She was a people person who was dearly loved. She loved going to see her grandchildren’s ballgames and entertaining her grandkids. She was known as “Grandma” to everybody who knew her. She was family oriented and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Sally was very active at Jellystone Campground, getting involved in many of the campgrounds activities. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband: Dennis Joy, Pierceton; five children: Paula (John) Moore, Winona Lake, Ind.; Dean (Celina) Adkins, Pierceton; Sheila (Ed) Yohe, South Whitley, Ind.; Billy Hutchinson, Pierceton; and Chris (Jeremy) Miller, Pierceton; 11 grandchildren: Kierstan and Brady Yates; Nick Moore; Mia De La Cruz; Paige and Anika Adkins, Haley, Hanna and Alex Yohe; and Elizabeth and Hunter Miller; and four brothers and two sisters.
Sally was preceded in death by her late husband: Bill Hutchinson; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
