Man Arrested After Assaulting Pregnant Woman
A Warsaw man was arrested today for allegedly beating his pregnant girlfriend in the presence of her child after becoming intoxicated.
Jacob Isaac Hamilton, 20, was arrested at approximately 1:03 a.m. for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage, domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant female the defendant knew to be pregnant.
According to Warsaw Police Lt. Kip Shuter, the incident began when Hamilton, who was already intoxicated, met his girlfriend at her workplace yesterday evening. According to Shuter, during the drive home, Hamilton wanted her to stop for beverages and upon her declining to stop, became angry and began hitting the vehicle causing the child to cry.
According to Shuter, after arriving home the woman requested Hamilton leave. Hamilton threw the woman to the ground causing her to land on her stomach. He then stepped on her head and began pressing his fingers into her eyes. The woman was able to roll away from him and contact police. Hamilton fled the scene and was discovered behind the woman’s home.
The woman was checked out by paramedics at the scene but refused further medical treatment at that time.
