Laurence C. ‘Larry’ Griffith
Laurence C. ‘Larry’ Griffith, 94, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 5, 1918, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Lauren and Theresa (O’Neil) Griffith. On Oct. 25, 1947, he married Rosemary C. Schirmeyer who preceded him.
He was a Lake Wawasee resident since 1946. He owned and operated Griffith’s Wawasee Marina until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Martins de Porres Catholic Church, as well as the Knights of Columbus in Syracuse. He was a US Army WWII veteran and was a member of the Syracuse American Legion and VFW. Larry enjoyed playing golf and boating on the lake.
He is survived by his two daughters: Lisa (Dan) Mikolajczak, Syracuse; Andrea (Mark) Stinson, Anderson, Ind.; two sons: Terry (Karen) Griffith, Syracuse; Dan (Richele) Griffith, Syracuse; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister; Virginia Hannum; two brothers: Donald (Kate) Griffith and James Griffith; one sister-in-law: Doris Griffith.
He was preceded by one sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Eastlund Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the church. Private family interment will follow at the McClintic Cemetery with full Military Honors.
