North Webster Public Library Announcements
There will be some tall yarns from the high seas at the North Webster Public Library next week when actor Terry Lynch portrays Captain Taffy in his Pirate Tales Show at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26.
Lynch will invite the kids to climb aboard as he holds them captive with rollicking pirate stories from around the world. The show is a NWPL Summer Reading Program event held in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Everyone is welcome. If your child is participating in the Summer Reading Program, be sure they bring their reading passports to be stamped.
The fun goes on all week in the Youth Services Department beginning with Preschool Story Time at 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25. Young children will explore digging equipment in “Digging Fun” with Mrs. Pam.
Family Movie Time at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, June 27, will have two showings of an animated adventure that follows five young dinosaurs and their quest to reach the “Great Valley”. The 73-minute movie is rated G. Free tickets will be handed out one hour before show time until gone. Families are invited to bring their own beverages and enjoy the free popcorn.
The week wraps up with Friday Family Food and Fun Day on at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, when kids will “Dig into Dinosaurs.” Parents are required to sign their child up in advance to participate in one of three time sessions where they will enjoy three dinosaur crafts and sample a dinosaur food.
While the kids sail the high seas with pirate stories and dig into dinosaurs, the Voyager Book Club in the Adult Services Department will be digging into some stories of their own when they meet on at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, to discuss any fiction book they have read recently.
Revolving Recipe Round-Up may not be sampling dinosaur food like the kids, but they will be sharing fruited dishes they’ve each prepared along with recipes at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 25.
Adults will want to stock up for their own summer reading at the Friends of the Library Book Sale Thursday, June 27, through Saturday, June 29. You may not win prizes for reading, but you’ll get fantastic bargains on hundreds of gently used books in all genres, movies, games, music and puzzles. Sale hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 and Friday, June 28, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. All proceeds go to support the Library.
Remember, the Library will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, in support of the Mermaid Festival Cutie Parade.
